SMART Goals Animation

Type: Motion graphics / animation · Role: Visual design & motion graphics (collaborative) · Tools: Adobe Animate, Illustrator

Overview An animation created for a course on effective goal setting for a company's talent development team, giving the SMART goals framework a visual identity alongside a more detailed written explanation.

The Problem SMART goals are a familiar framework, which makes them easy to present as a flat, forgettable acronym. The course needed a visual treatment that made the concept engaging and memorable — reinforcing the detailed explanation rather than duplicating it as another bulleted list.

Constraints & Collaboration This was a shared project: another Instructional Designer owned the exact course content, while I owned the visual design and motion graphics. That meant creating animation that served someone else's instructional structure and messaging — staying tightly aligned to their content while bringing it to life visually.

My Role & Process I led the visual design and motion graphics, translating the SMART framework into clear, animated visuals paired with the course's written explanation. Partnering closely with the content owner kept the animation accurate to the learning goals while elevating how the material landed.

The Solution A motion-graphics piece that gives an abstract framework a visual rhythm and identity, making it concrete and helping it stick with learners.
